At a recent event, a dad with a young girl (5 or 6 years old) shared his concern to be a good daddy. Later during casual conversation he shared this story... Every night when he tucks her in, he tells her "Daddy loves you, Mommy love you, and Jesus loves you." Once they were riding in the car when he asked her. "Do love your self?" She held out her arm and looked at herself (skin) saying "Yea, look at it (me), I'm beautiful!" He then told her why she is so beautiful. "Cause, God made you that way. You know I love you, your mom loves you, and guess who else loves you very much? JESUS!" I wrote asking permission to share this story, and assured him that he's being a GREAT dad, and this story proves it.

Been a while since I've posted throughts here, but I recently found out that there are very stiff penalties for destroying an eagle's nest, or an eagle's egg... yet we defend the right to an abortion of a "fetus." Is there any rationale that could make sense of these two ideas. The arguments I have read, all devalue human life, and elevate the "endangered species." (Simply google penalties for destroying an eagle egg.)

Seems to me this is the consequence of several generations of teaching that we are here by chance, and therefore have no responsiblity to anyone, or anything greater than ourselves. If one believes in a Creator, then this seems like a completely irrational state of affairs.

The national release has happened. Longing is now available online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Borders. Amazon has the entire preface and story available to read online. They also sell the Kindle version. It's cheap at Barnes and Noble, and as always, available directly at www.longingforeden.com. It also shows well in Google search if you search for Longing for Eden, or Henry Yoder book.

Books have been available on http://www.longingforeden.com/ for about a month now, and sales have been quite good. From the Publisher: The official release date of your book is August 31, 2010. The release date is only a date set by distributors and wholesalers to make sure the books are in place for ordering on all available sites and bookstores. On your release date, your book can be ordered at any major bookstore or online website, and that is the date we begin our initial marketing efforts for your book.

Check it out... Just talked to the gentleman who will be designing the book cover. (Glad he's doing it and not me:) And this month is also final layout. In theory, I will have a "prototype" in my hands by middle of May. I will also be beginning the recording of the audio book, so things are moving along at this point. Keep praying.

Updates for the publishing process: I just sent the final edits to the editor. The book will be going to layout next week. The last month has been lots of editing, but it is finally beginning to feel like it ACTUALLY happening. We used to have an expression in the recording industry that a "record is never finished, it's just released." This process feels a lot like that... a book is never done... just published. www.longingforeden.com

Received an update today from the publisher. The technical editing has begun, and they are telling me that takes about a month, to be followed by the more serious content editing. I'm hoping to speed that process up by being responsive when they ask me for rewriting content.

We recognize intuitively and by observation that we are broken. If we are honest, we must admit that we are a mess. We also have the intuition deep within ourselves that life was meant to be more than our experience of brokenness. Where does that intuition come from? I got a follow-up on the book from Tate Publishing. I have been assigned an editor (there will be three total) and the actual process begins in January. This means that a target date for the book release in June is realistic.

I also expect to do an audio book, and the plan at this point is for me to read it myself.

I recently signed a publishing deal, for my first book, Longing for Eden. The book is in the publication process.
